Kusamakura

Kusamakura (Grass Pillow) by Natsume Sōseki is a lyrical, introspective novel that follows an artist who retreats to a remote mountain village in search of beauty and artistic inspiration.

As he observes the natural landscape and interacts with the mysterious and elegant hostess, O-Nami, he reflects deeply on art, aesthetics, and the contrast between the artistic and everyday worlds. The novel blends poetry, philosophy, and painterly descriptions, embodying the idea of art as a serene refuge from the turmoil of modern life.
